Aug. 20, 1936-Jan. 8, 2016 Sister Mary Beatrice Chaney, age 79, born August 20, 1936 in Choctaw County; departed this life at a local hospital in Mobile, AL on January 8, 2016. She was a loving mother that cherished her family and friends. She was an employee of Bay Security Company until her retirement."She was never a stranger." Mary had a very strong personality and she always gave a helping hand to others. You could get her last. She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Yvonne "Faye" Howard, Mobile, AL; son, Jimmy Glover, Montgomery, AL; one brother, Henry(Elizabeth) Nettles; seven sisters, Marie Pipkin Payton, Washington, D.C. Dara Sanoquel, New York, NY, Shirley Pipkin Garland, Spring Valley, NY, Irma (Andrew) Lee, Meridian, MS, Vivian(Max) Taylor, Atlanta, GA, Robert (Francis) Jones, Atlanta, GA, Patricia (Ferdinand) Williams, Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sister Mary Chaney made an impact on all who knew her. She was really one of a kind and will be sadly missed. Visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour at St. Joseph Baptist Church, 711 Elba Ave. Whistler, AL 36612, Rev. Levon C. Manzie, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL. Services entrusted to Hodge's Chapel, L.L.C.
