Gordon Jones
Jan 31, 1937 - Jan 11, 2016
Resident of Danville
Gordon Jones, son of the late Samuel H. and Cleo D. Jones, died January 11th peacefully in his sleep after being surrounded by family and his loving companion of more than 30 years, Joy Guerin.
Born in San Francisco on January 31, 1937, Gordon spent most of his childhood in South San Francisco and most of his adulthood in the Danville area.
Gordon started everything early in life. At 12 years old he started caddying at the California Golf Club. At 21, he had married and fathered three sons. It was no surprise that at 22 he was a sales trainee at H.S. Crocker and went on to be one of their leading sales representatives.
For his next venture Gordon created Diablo Valley Packaging. He was not only successful but encouraged his son Jeff to expand the business and DVP is now one of the leading distributors of glass in the USA.
Besides his love for his darling Joy, Gordon treasured being with his family, playing golf, spending months each year in Hawaii, visiting his time share in Palm Springs and just being at his home on the Crow Canyon Country Club.
Gordon is survived by his sons Robert, Jeffrey (wife Susanne), and Michael (wife Tammy). He tearfully leaves grandchildren: Jason, Chad, Trisha, Scott, Chase, Cami, and his first great grandchild Coralie. Gordon will forever be missed by his brothers Jim Jones (wife Marge) and Greg Jones (late wife Terry), plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gordon was loved, respected, admired and friends to many during his almost 79 years. His calm, caring demeanor plus dry sense of humor drew people to him. Gordon Jones will truly be missed.
If you would like to help celebrate Gordon's life, join the family at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel, 1139 Saranap Ave., Walnut Creek on Sat., Jan. 23, 11 am, (925) 934-5400. Reception to follow.
