Joseph S., 89, lifetime resident of Wallington, passed away at home Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Joe was a truck driver for Ruzila's Express Service, Inc., of Garfield for 38 years. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 560, in Union City. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, and a member of the Wallington V.F.W. Pavlick Koster Post 2640. He was a parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church, Wallington, and a Exempt Firefighter for the Wallington Fire Department Truck Company 1. Joe was the beloved husband of Irene C. (nee Kulka), devoted father of Joseph Slamiak, and his wife Lisa, of Wallington, and Joanne Wendelken, and her husband Martin, of Elmwood Park, loving grandfather of Patrick, and dear brother of the late Frank, Henry, and Edward Slamiak, Victoria Puterko, Ellen Mueller, and Stella Schubert. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service, Sunday, 3:30 PM, at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Avenue, Wallington, during visiting hours of 2-4 PM. Visit
