Chrisanthe (Drucas) Simms, a long-time resident of Western Ave. in Lynn, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Life Care Center of the North Shore in Lynn, she was 94. Born in Salem on March 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late, Christos Drucas and Helen (Kirios) Drucas. Chris was raised in Salem and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She met and later married her sweetheart, Milton Simms, on October 12, 1947 in St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn, where she was an active member for many years. Chris worked alongside her husband as owners of Mel’s Sub Shop in Revere and as a bookkeeper in the Insurance Industry until she retired. She enjoyed dancing and traveling and will long be remembered for her cooking and baking and for many happy times with family and good friends up at “the WEIRS”. Chris is survived by her loving children; Arthur Simms and his wife, Sarah of Swampscott, Elaine Lemire and her husband, Roger of RI, Gail Simms of Swampscott and her fiancé Robert Good, and Carol Simms of Lynn and her fiancé, Paul Barton. She also leaves her grandchildren; Michael and Amber Lemire, Jennifer and Joseph Felicio, Andrew and Amanda Lemire, Joseph Tedeschi, Nicholas Simms and Mark Simms along with 6 great-grandchildren. Chris was the sister of the late Charles Drucas, George Drucas and Cleo Epsimos. Chrisanthe’s name is derived from the Greek word “chrysos” meaning gold and anthemon meaning flower. She was aptly nicknamed, “Sunny” for her warmth and happy disposition. Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 So. Common St. Lynn at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM.
