PATTERSON - Clifton A. Magruder, 97, of Quincy and formerly of Patterson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born, Dec. 27, 1918, in Poynor, Missouri, the son of Willie and Celia May Pennington Magruder. He married Vercie Ingram, Dec. 22, 1943, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Clifton married Kathleen Barrow, July 10, 1972. She preceded him in death, May 1, 2007.
Surviving are four daughters, Carol (Terry) Savage of Chatsworth, Georgia, Janice Blakey of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Brenda (Gary) Wyatt of Chapin, and Reva (companion, Larry Cox) Magruder of Roodhouse; stepson, Max (Debbie) Barrow of Roodhouse; 19 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Todd Wyatt and Brian Henson; stepdaughter, Brenda Kelly; son-in-law, David Blakey; three sisters, and one brother.
Clifton served in the Army during WWII receiving two bronze stars and several ribbons for his service. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and the Patterson Community Club. He enjoyed wood working and fishing.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse with interment in the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Patterson Community Center.
