Hazel Virginia McDade Hamlen Jones

Hazel Virginia McDade Hamlen Jones was born in Henderson, NC on August 22, 1922 to Gillie Elizabeth Roberson McDade and Lacy Lee McDade. After WWII, she married James Woodrow Hamlen. Most of their married life was spent in Norfolk, Virginia. After his death she married Jack Jones of Emporia, Virgina. After Jack's death she moved to Raleigh in 1984 where she lived until moving to Glenaire in Cary almost ten years ago.
She is survived by her two devoted daughters Betty Peterson (Randy) and Gloria Johnson (Jerry). Her grandchildren loved her dearly. They are Susan Klopp (John) of Greensboro, Jim Britt (Lori) of Clayton, Blake Johnson(Meredith), Dane Johnson, and Kyle Johnson (Gabrielle) all of Raleigh. Great-grandchildren are Michael and Lindsay Klopp, Nicholas and Jordan Britt, and Gray and Parker Johnson. She survived her three siblings Mack, Tokie, and Marie whom she loved deeply. Each of her nieces and nephews were very dear to her heart.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Glenaire-Central House for all the love and care they provided over the years.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Brown-Wynne. A graveside service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Henderson, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her memory to White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Road, Raleigh, NC 27608. Please designate-Christmas Share. This is an alternative giving program that she supported by stuffing giving cards in envelopes for over 20 years.

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." I feel so honored to have Hazel Virginia Jones on my professional time line. A woman who loved me beyond the color of my skin and the accent in my voice. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
