CHICK, William Maxwell Age 83, died after a short illness at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio on February 12, 2016. Bill was born in Titusville, PA on December 21, 1932. He was one of three children born to John Bradley Chick and Alice Sutton Chick and was the husband of Polly (Henke) Chick for over 57 years. He is survived by his two sons, Bradford W. Chick and Gregory R. Chick (Jody) and five Chick grandchildren, Maxwell and Alexandra (Granville, Ohio) and Erika, Ian and Olivia (Yellow Springs, Ohio). His brother, John Bradley Chick, Jr. pre-deceased him. His beloved sister, Cynthia Pitsinger (Dr. N. Bruce) lives in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Titusville High School, he received degrees from Yale University and The University of Chicago. His entire career was spent in the precision metal castings industry beginning with Alcoa and culminating with his own manufacturers representative agency (William Chick Co.) for almost 40 years. Professionally, he belonged to many organizations and was a life-time member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He served on the boards of the Salvation Army and The Boy Scouts of America as well as the President of the Board of Union Presbyterian Church while living in Newburgh, New York. A life-long volunteer for Yale, he was an officer of Yale Clubs and spent decades interviewing students as a member of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee. His fascination with automobiles, especially Rovers, Citroens and Studebakers caused him to join their owner organizations. He was especially interested in architecture and visited many Frank Lloyd Wright sites. A Dixieland Jazz fan, he enjoyed many expeditions to jazz fests. Bill touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 West Main St., Fairborn, Ohio. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery. The family requests that any memorial donations in memory of William M. Chick be sent to Yale University 54/65 Fund c/o Russ Reynolds, Jr., 600 Steamboat Rd., Greenwich, CT 06830. Bill was a dear friend and business associate. We traveled together and it was always an adventure. Each trip has a memorable experience that we still enjoy. I will miss his laughter and friendship. I consider Bill one of my dear friends. Dan Reed
