Sue Helen Smith
Home Going Celebration was held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 for Sue Helen Smith at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 130 Bradley Lane, Cottontown, TN, Rev. Walter Grant, Pastor/Officiant, Rev. Robert E. Bell, Eulogist.
God planted a seed in his earthly garden on November 29, 1939. He named that seed Sue Helen. Born in Springfield, TN to the union of the late Roger Groves and Katie Randolph, Sue Helen blossomed into a beautiful rose. That rose continued to flourish for 76 years in Cross Plains, TN, The Rose wilted and ascended into Heaven to take permanent root on February 16, 2016.
Sue Helen Smith attended school in Cottontown, TN. At a young age she professed her faith in Christ at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. She also held an affiliation with Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Golden Living Centers where she retired after 35 year of service.
Sue Helen Smith was a women of grace and beauty, who was loved by many. She was filled with a loving and gentle spirit. She found joy in cooking and socializing with her family and friends. She will always be remembered by many for her laughter and the love that she provided to all. Her smile would warm the hearts of strangers and would forever be embedded in the hearts of her friends and family.
Sue Helen is proceeded in death by her parents, Roger and Katie Groves; two brothers; Charles Rogers and Charles Truman Groves. She is survived by one sister; Phyllis Groves, Springfield, TN; two uncles, Jim Thomas (Emma Bell) and Sterling Grove, Cross Plains, TN, six children; daughter, Joann Smith, Cross Plains, TN, sons; Roger Smith, Cross Plains, TN, Henry Smith (Joyce) and John Smith, III (Nave) both of Gallatin, TN, Robert Wayne Smith and Leon Smith (Amanda) both of Cross Plains, TN. She also leaves to cherish in her memory a longtime and best friend, Carlos Stewart, Springfield, TN and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
