Martha Hafer Linville, 73, of Augusta, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Aaron Linville. She was born March 30, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to her parents (both late) Evaline Bartrum Merrill and Roy Hafer. Martha was well known in the Augusta School System. She could always be seen around the school or selling tickets at the home basketball games. She was known for her love of the kids—nothing made her happier than seeing the smiles on their faces. In her later years, she could often be found playing Bingo at the local VFW or cheering on her grandkids at basketball games. She was a member of the Maysville Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post #2374. She leaves behind four sons, Charles A. (Julie) Linville, Jr. of Florence, Ky, Ricky (Kathy Cox) Linville of Augusta, Michael (Bridgett) Linville of Augusta, and Chris (Holly) Linville of Germantown, Ky; and one daughter, Sharon (Erik) Browning of Germantown. Survivors also include two brothers, Larry Hafer of Foster, Ky and Kerry Hafer of Dayton, Ohio; a step-sister, Sherry McConnell of Dayton, Ohio. In addition, she leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her step-mother, Doris Hafer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Linville and Patricia Popham and her special friend, Roy Collins. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta, with Bro. Jackie McElfresh officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Mt. Olivet, Ky. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Ky 41056 or to the Maysville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, 3177 AA Highway, Maysville, Ky 41056.
