Barbara A. Mandes of Narberth Barbara A. (Bailey) Mandes of Narberth, PA passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She was born June 27, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA and resided in Narberth, PA. She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty years Joseph D. Mandes III, her parents Betty Jones Savage and George D. Savage and her father Arthur A. Bailey. She is survived by two brothers, Donald A Bailey and wife Sandra L. Bailey of Galveston, Texas and Stephen G. Savage and partner Tina Tryon of Ocean View, New Jersey. Barbara also is survived by 9 nephews and nieces and fourteen grand nephews and grand nieces, Erik, Troy, Blake, Ryan, Adam, Michelle, David, Stephen Jr., Heather, Conor, Reagan, Brendan, Juliette, Brynn, Samantha, Ethan, Carter, Stephen III, Joshua, Tayler, Riley, Sarah and Ryan plus being Stepmother and Step Grandmother to 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren, Helen, Janet, Anne Marie, Courtney Lindsey, Shelly, Harry, Elizabeth. A lifelong resident of Narberth PA, Barbara attended Merion Grammar School, Bala Cynwyd Jr. High School and graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1957. After high school Barbara graduated from Stratford College in Danville Virginia in 1959. Barb’s work career covered 35 years working for Philanthropic Life Insurance (aka Columbian Financial Group/Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co). Barbara has truly been a lifelong member of the Narberth Presbyterian Church—from baptism to burial. Barbara’s immediate family was also all deeply involved in Narberth – Her Grand Parents – Julius and Mary Bailey, as well as her parents George and Betty Savage plus her cousins including the Mansfields, Oldfields, Quinns and Browns who all attended St. Margaret’s School in Narberth. Barbara was especially proud of husband Joe’s activities over the years as a Mason, Volunteer Fireman, a Montgomery County Deputy, an Equestrian at the Devon Horse Show, and a Veteran of World War II. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Narberth Presbyterian Church located at 205 Grayling Ave. Narberth. Interment will be at 9:30 am at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Gladwyne PA. Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of sending flowers, Barbara and her family request that memorial donations be made to the Narberth Presbyterian Church Deacons’ Assistance fund. Stuard FH - Ardmore
