July 29, 1932 - March 31, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY Robert Lee Yount, longtime Oklahoma City resident, passed away after a brief illness on March 31, 2016, in Oklahoma City. He later married Zonia Armstrong, and they remained very good friends until his death. Bob loved flying his plane, running marathons, hunting, fishing, spending time with his many friends, close family and his birddog, Patty. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held April 9, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel, 6600 Broadway Extension, OKC. Bob was such a joy to work with. He always stayed positive and was helpful to a fault. It was a blessing to have worked with him and called him a friend. He will be missed.
Blessings on his family.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Bob back in 2009 when he and I attended UCO together. He and I took a biology course over the spring interim session. We became study and lab partners during that time, and kept in touch by phone periodically after that. Bob allowed me to interview him about his life for a feature writing story I did during that semester. One thing that struck me during that process was his persistence. He was a strong, pioneer-spirited man who made the most of the here and now. He realized the value of the resource of time we have in this present moment, and he wasn't afraid to take life by the horns, and challenge himself in ways he previously didn't know were possible. He taught me the lesson that it's never to late to start something new, and to go after your goals wholeheartedly. I enjoyed hearing of his life of auto racing at Taft Stadium in his younger days, ultra-marathoning later in life, and his various business ventures. Also, his hilarious account of being so starved for lettuce during his time in Korea, that he ate a head of lettuce every day after he got back. He was a genuine and wonderful person. He was a heck of a guy, and I count myself fortunate to have been able to call him a friend and mentor.

Heaven has gained a wonderful man that we will all miss dearly. Bob was one of the most caring, and selfless individuals I have ever met. I will remember Bob, always going above and beyond to help others, asking how you and your family were doing, his kind words and smile. I am thankful for his friendship and having the pleasure of knowing and working with him for so many years. Until we meet again...

A true gentleman, with a genuine love for his country! He opened his home to everyone for his annual Black Eyed Peas Luncheon each New Year's Day and even on his worst day, never complained.....always saying "I couldn't be better" We should all take a lesson from him in that way! Rest in peace Bob, we will miss you.
