McCafferty, Roy MEDUSA Roy McCafferty, 94, died early Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the Fireman's Home in Hudson. Born in Durham on January 6, 1922, he was son of the late Ernest and Jessie Rivenburg McCafferty. Roy worked with his brother Vernon on the family farm that was their father's. He also raised Angus beef cattle, and worked as a night watchman at the Alcove Reservoir. Roy retired as supervising foreman of the Albany County Highway Department in Rensselaerville. He was a 70 year member of the Medusa Volunteer Fire Company, and was one of the last surviving charter members. Roy is survived by three daughters, Sheila (James) Hillicoss of Coxsackie, Colleen (late William III) Scott and Kathleen (Salvatore III) Spinnato, all of Westerlo; eight grandchildren, Shannon (late Ronald) Gosse, Megan (Curtis) Segura, Courtney (Christopher) Fremgen, Jesica Raymond, Amy (Joshua) Beers, Gregory Scott, Salvatore (Nicole) Spinnato IV, and Kristen Spinnato; four (soon to be five) great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Mosley McCafferty on April 29, 2003; and his brothers, George, Vernon, and Frederick McCafferty. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Rt 81, Greenville, with a service by the Medusa Volunteer Fire Company at 7 p.m. The funeral will be Friday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Medusa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Medusa Volunteer Fire Company, 28 CR 351, Medusa, NY 12120, or the Rensselaerville Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 182, Rensselaerville, NY 12147-0182 will be appreciated.
