Dorothy A. Yefko, 87, a longtime resident of the Kingston and Wilkes-Barre area, died in Florida on Friday, April 29, 2016.
Born Aug. 27, 1928 in Larksville, she was a daughter of the late George M. and Helen Korshalla Dongas.
Dorothy attended Kingston High School, Lackawanna Junior College and Luzerne County Community College.
Dorothy was a medical secretary before retiring and was previously employed by Fowler, Dick and Walker for 15 years.
A member of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima at the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Dorothy was also active with the Charles T. Adams Senior Citizens Center and the RSVP Program at Mercy Hospital.
Her first husband, William E. Mihalos, died in 1966 and second husband, Sylvester Yefko, died in 1989. Sisters, Mary and Margaret Dongas and Anne Greberis; and brothers, Michael and Albert Dongas also preceded her in death.
Dorothy will be greatly missed by her daughter, Helen and her husband James W. Smith, Bradenton, Fla.; son, Emanuel W. and his wife, Marie Mihalos, Wilkes-Barre; grandsons, Emanuel W. II and his wife, Jeanna Mihalos; and Gregory and his wife, Megan Smith; great-granddaughter, Alexa Grace Mihalos; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Dorothy's Life will begin Tuesday with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin's, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, and continue there Wednesday with gathering at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima or the charity of your preference.
