He was born November 16, 1942 in West Virginia and was the son of the late Estyl Roy and Eva Pennington Painter.
Before his health began to decline, Jackie worked for Mohawk Rubber Sales in Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Wimer Painter of Harrisonburg; two sons, Stacey James Painter and wife, Kerri of Weyers Cave and Jeremy Jerome Painter of Harrisonburg; and one daughter, Brandie Lorraine Johnson and husband, Adam of Burke, VA.
He was known to be a “great pawpaw” to his five grandchildren, Christopher and Katlyn Shiflet, Madison Painter, and Bryanna and Nataleigh Johnson. He is also survived by five brothers, Hank Smith, Denver, Billy, Carroll, and Jerry Painter; three sisters, Norma Jean Martin, Eva May and Wilma Flick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 7:00-8:00 pm at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating.
