Catherine W. Cooney TROY - Catherine W. Cooney of Troy passed into eternal rest on Friday May 6, 2016 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Catherine was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophie Warenda and loving wife of the late Edward J. Cooney and mother of the late David E. Cooney. Catherine graduated from Troy High School she then spent a brief time at the New York Telephone Co. and then became a homemaker. Catherine was pre-deceased by her brothers Frank Warenda (Troy) and John Warenda (Morrisville PA) and by her sisters Mary Afinowicz (Troy) Helen Welfinger (Averill Park) and Julia Ruf (Troy) She is survived by her special nephew Tom Afinowicz and her god-son Tom Testo as well as other nieces and nephews. Catherine’s family would extend their deepest appreciations to Linda Stacey, her aide, for all of her compassionate care. The funeral service for Catherine will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 am at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third St Troy with Deacon Charles Wojton of St. Anthony of Padua Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9 am to 10 am. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Colonie NY.

Tommy, so sorry to learn of Kay's passing. She was a sweet lady and so well thought of by Uncle Don and our family after Aunt Helen passed.
