Nancy Carpenter Tyler, 61, entered into eternal peace on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Integris Hospice Home of Oklahoma City, OK. Nancy was born on March 2nd (Texas Independence Day) 1955 in Pecos, TX (Home of the World's first Rodeo), to her late parents of Pecos, Joe and Marion Carpenter. She graduated from Pecos High School in 1973. She left Pecos and attended The University of Texas at El Paso on scholarship as the Feature Baton Twirler for the UTEP Fighting Miners Marching Band. Nancy graduated in 1977 receiving her BA in Education. It was while attending UTEP that Nancy met the love of her life, Harry Tyler, who played basketball for the Legendary Coach Haskins. Nancy and Harry married July 27, 1975 after their second year of college and spent every day of their lives together. They did everything together and were practically inseparable during their almost 41 years of marriage. Nancy later received her Master's in Education from Indiana University. She is survived by her loving husband Harry, their two puppies Tiki and Mia; her son Christopher Tyler and his wife Gigit, their two sons Jackson and Hudson; her daughter Natalee Cook, her husband Kelly and their daughter Kay Lee. Nancy is also survived by her Uncle Andy Carpenter and his wife Doris of Grass Valley, California; Andy always told her that he loved her more than his own "damn" kids. While in elementary school Nancy wrote her Uncle Andy every week while he was serving our country during the Vietnam War. As an educator of more than 39 years, Nancy touched the lives of thousands of children and parents, often while spending her own time mentoring students. Family and friends were Nancy's passion and delight. She hosted many parties at her home for family, friends, Harrys business associates, politicians and dignitaries from all over the United States. Nancy's beloved grandkids were the joy of her life and she loved them so dearly. Kay Lee "Tater", Jackson "Hot Rod", and Hudson "Huddy Buddy". Visitation will be held from 4:00pm- 8:00PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home on 480 N. Resler. A Funeral Service will also be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00AM. I was so very sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. Altho I have not seen her nor family in a really long time, I remember her as a 'fellow' soccer mom & admired her as a vivacious outgoing, outspoken woman! My condolences to her husband, Harry & the rest of her family.

I grew up across the street from Nancy in Pecos and can remember what a wizard she was with her batons. She was a beautiful girl who grew up to be a wonderful woman. I am more sorry than I can say that she is gone.

Harry, we were so saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. I'll always remember the great evening at your home in El Paso when Nancy welcomed us as if we were long missed family. I don't believe she ever met a stranger. I know you and your family are going through a most difficult time now but remember the good times and that part of Nancy is with you every day through your children and grandchildren. My prayers are that God will be with you all and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding. God Bless.
