Leonard Michael Dakin went to be with the Lord May 26th, 2016 and join his wife Alice Zrubek Dakin who preceded him by 2 years. They were married nearly 50 years before her passing. Mike, his favored name, was born April 5th, 1932 in Cooperstown, New York, lived in New Jersey in his early youth, then moved to Texas with his sister and mother several years after his father died when he was a young boy.
Mike was a craftsman all his life. He owned a cabinet shop where he built cabinets for some nearby restaurants and enjoyed building small toys in his later years. He was also fond of refinishing furniture and tried to retain the beauty and value of antiques. Mike was also a painter and worked on all drywall applications.
Mike was a long time participant in Boy Scouts and was even an Assistant Scout Master for a while. He enjoyed teaching children camping skills and all about knot tying.
Mike was the father of three boys--Roland, Steve, Ken, had six grandchildren---Stacia, Breean, Mackenzie, Kalyn, Kurt, Kolt, and one great-granchild---Taylynn.
Mike was preceded in death by his sister Florence Miller who also lived in Dallas.
Graveside services will be 2pm, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Road, Rowlett, Texas, 75088
