Michael Lee Sawyer
Virginia Beach - Michael Lee Sawyer entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, the 1st of June, 2016 at his Virginia Beach home. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 8, 1949 to Lucille Sawyer. He grew up in the Huntersville Community on Proscher St. Michael was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1967, and Norfolk State College (University). Later, Michael earned a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Michigan's Wayne State University. For most of his adult years, he made his home in Detroit, MI and retired as a teacher of mathematics in the Detroit Public School System. Michael was a loving and devoted son to his mother, for whom he desired to give the desires of her heart. Michael was predeceased in death by his sister, Donnie Sawyer. A homegoing service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 1141 Campostella Rd., Norfolk, VA.
Professional services are entrusted to Graves Funeral Home in Norfolk, VA.

It must have been God to make me search your name. This is Anjelica "pookie" you were my Nana´s near and dear friend. I remember when we used to stop by your house on the weekends, and we used to go to put together sometimes. Missing you dearly. Please say hello to my nana for me.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike really will be missed, I going to miss the times we talked and prayed on the telephone. You had a great son and he loved you dearly. The word says absent from the body is to be present with the lord. So we know where Mike is. Love you!!
