Gary R. Green
BUTLER: Gary R. Green passed away suddenly Sunday morning, June 12, 2016 in Genesis Hospital Zanesville surrounded by his family and friends. He was 48.
He was born March 25, 1968 in Mansfield to parents Gary G. & Ann J (Broadwater) Green. He graduated from Clear Fork High School with the class of 1987, while also completing the Ag Mechanics program at the Knox County Career Center. In 1988 he married his high school sweetheart Tonya Mortimer and the two went on to have three beautiful children.
A very skilled and talented mechanic, Gary owned and operated his own shop: Green's Auto Repair, until joining the Brennstuhl Construction Team. Working at Brennstuhl's was Gary's dream job. He was not only a mechanic but an all around handy and maintenance man. In the three years he has been a part of the team he developed lifelong unforgettable friendships.
Gary lived life large; he was active, outgoing, and fun-loving. He filled his days with family and friends, teasing and helping them, always with their best interest at heart.
Gary never met a slab of meat he couldn't smoke. He dabbled in different rubs and pellets to pull out just the perfect flavors. His expertise with a smoker and spice mixtures made him a popular party invite.
He is survived by his loving wife Tonya Green; children Michael Green (Stephanie Needles), Miranda Green, and Mariah Green (Vernon Tharp); grandchildren Layla, Roslynn, Hallee, and Remington; parents Gary G. and Ann Green; siblings Sheila (Clark) Swank, Peggy (Randy) Swank, Kathy (Doug) Phipps- Lester, Nancy (Darell) Sanson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandpa Elmer Lee "Bud" Broadwater, and brother-in-law Jerry Phipps.
The Green family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 2-7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Gary's life will be held at CitiChurch, 541 State Route 97 W, Bellville, Ohio, on Friday June 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Pastor's Patrick Bailey and Ken Kinnley will speak. Tonya,
Words alone cannot express how sorry I am to hear of Gary's passing. Although I only met him a couple of times, I felt like I knew him much longer. It is refreshing to read all the stories of Gary and how he helped so many people during their time of need. He sure is loved and I know will be sorely missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Always cherish the memories that were made and share them with your children and grandchildren.
