Rufus Ruark Obituary

DELTAVILLE - Rufus Haynes Ruark, Sr.,73, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home in Deltaville. Born and raised in Deltaville, he was the son of the late Edwin Rufus Ruark and Mary Bristow Ruark. He was a lifelong waterman, hunter and above all else a devoted family man and was loved by many. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Diane Shores Ruark and his brother, Edwin Ruark. Left to cherish his memory with his wife and brother are his children; Sheryl Grammer, Cindy Wernecke (Tom), Rufus Ruark, Jr. (Kathy) and Michelle Hope (Brian). He leaves behind nine grandchildren; Christopher and Morgan Grammer, Thomas and Tyler Wernecke, Jack, Cole and Delaney Ruark, Autumn and Olivia Hope. He also leaves behind his faithful and loving companion, King. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23rd at Zoar Baptist Church, Deltaville. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 98 or the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 440 both in Deltaville, VA 23043 or to your favorite charity.
