Many fond memories of both Iva Jean and George. Iva Jean was also a teller at the Big Lake State Bank and I always looked forward to seeing her when I went in to take out a loan for my 4H lambs each year. In later years when I visited her and George at the store, Iva Jean would always fix me a chewing tobacco cup with a kleenex in bottom. Remember Iva Jean and Dale riding the school bus from Best to Big Lake. Remember going with Whitey Hurst from Santa Rita to visit Herman and Gladys at the Salt Flats north of Best and Gladys cooking a wonderful wild game dinner of venison and all the trimmings. Remember George and Donald Young cruising the streets checking on city utilities in the city truck. Remember Dale coming out to drilling rigs where I was roughnecking to do welding work. Remember Dale and Adilia on the school bus holding hands in lovers bliss. A wonderful family, all of them.

Iva Jean and I were cousins- her dad, my Uncle Herman,ie."Hunter", was my dad's younger brother. We spent the night at their house in Big Lake during the Christmas holidays back in 195?, then went on to Carlsbad to see Uncle Loy. I guess I thought that we would see each other often, and now she's gone.

We have many memories with Iva Jean and George. We bought beds and mattresses from the store. Any time you needed a battery, small appliance or a dresser, they had it. She would be so at home in the store. Her sweet smile will always be with us. RIP Iva Jean, you will be missed.
