I thought all my nieces and nephews would out live me. I am only four years older than Carl but he still called me uncle out of respect. That's the way he lived ,he respected everyone! He went through all the pain and discomforts for 18 months in the hopes of receiving a liver transplant. Carl was lucky and against all odds he did get a healthy liver. I thought he was in the clear. I was so happy after the successful surgery was done. But as always, complications did arise. Carl was in a weakened state and couldn't beat the complications. He did fight like hell to live but the lord needed a Carl. I will miss Carl greatly and will never forget how he battled. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, only that you fight when you need to. Every time that I walk his dog (Chewy) I will be thinking of him. My nephew will never be forgotten, rest in peace and say hi to the rest of the family!

Dearest Darleen, Chewy, and family;
The loss of Carl is sorrowful and felt by many, the girls and I will always have an empty part in our hearts. But I want you to know that I am only a phone call or knock away if you ever need anything, even just an ear or dog walking buddy anything! We are very sorry for your loss, and he will forever be in our hearts. Carl was my buddy in health and sickness, he was such a caring soul and a fighter. You will never find another Carl in the world, one of a kind first class friend.
Wishing you all love, peace, and sympathy.
Love always and forever,
Amanda, Babe, and Violet ♥
