Opal H. Dina, 93 was born Jan. 20, 1923 in Mississippi and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016 in Phoenix, AZ surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband Roger Dina, son Gary Dina and brother Carl Arnold. She is survived by her 5 children and 5 spouses: Rachel and George Klink, Judy and Mark Lamberton, Sandy and Mark Ivey, Gail and Jim Joyce, and John and Wanne Dina, as well as 11 grandchildren and 4 spouses: Paul, Philip, David (and Ashley ) and Laura Klink, Lindsey (and Frank) Rugo, Ashley (and Tony) Burkhardt, Geoffrey, Zachary, Hannah, Andrew (and Lisa), and Matthew Dina and 3 + 1 great grandchildren: Mikayla, Mya, Annalise and another one on the way. Opal was deeply loved and will be warmly remembered by her extended church family and friends. Opal served as a nurse in WW II. Providing good bedside manner was dear to her heart and became a familiar phrase uttered and practiced throughout her nursing days.

Opal was a loving and kind mother. She was an everyday example of how love multiples to others. The more she loved, the more love she seemed to have to share. She saw the good in all and turned a blind eye to things unkind. She was always amazed at how perfect her children, spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren were through her eyes. She constantly shared how blessed she felt for the beautiful life GOD had given her.

Opal believed in a good education. She led by example taking ongoing college classes in New and Old Testament and Spanish besides studying Hebrew, mastering the computer and graceful Tai chi movements. She constantly encouraged her grandchildren's education through example, words and gifts.

Opal was a woman of many interests. Studies of the Bible spanned her lifetime including highlights, like a trip to The Holy Land with Dr. Puckett from GCC following Old Testament and loved Tapestry meetings and weekly Sunday school classes at Royal Palms Baptist church with her loving church family.

Opal found a new love and challenge in ballroom dancing. New friends, beautiful, elegant costumes and a new talent was discovered in her pursuit of mastering various steps and styles in ballroom dancing. Countless hours of practice lead to enthusiastic performances, travel, shared excitement and special friendships. Opals Christian family was active in her daily life and a constant source of encouragement to her.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations would be sent to provide a fresh water well in Mozambique, Africa, and contributions should be sent to the International Mission Board, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230 and marked "Opal Dina Wells, Mozambique." Services will be held at 11:00 Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Royal Palms Baptist Church, 8802 N. 19th Ave., Phx. AZ. Tempe Mortuary is handling arrangements.
