Veronica (Vicki) Guydos-Casida January 4, 1922 August 1, 2016 Veronica (Vicki) Guydos-Casida died Monday August 1, 2016, at her home in State College. She was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Clarence, to parents Blazey and Mary Macura. She had five sisters and two brothers. She was proud of her Catholic faith and Slovak heritage and loved to sing old Slovak songs. Later in life, she went to Slovakia to see the beautiful country. She married Sgt. Joseph Guydos in 1944, and lived in Florida before moving to Detroit, Mich. where she worked at the B. Siegel Co. After Joseph's death in 1988, she moved to State College. In 1993, she married Dr. Lester Earl Casida, Jr., a professor of microbiology at the Pennsylvania State University. She was a happy sociable person who loved antique glassware, flowers, and dancing. She and Earl were donors of several professorships/scholar-ships specializing in food safety. She is survived by Dr. Casida; two step-daughters, Nancy Pattishall, of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Sharon Reed, of Hummelstown; several nieces and nephews; four step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
