Shannon Marie Robin Shannon was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Her love and devotion to her family and unwavering belief in our Lord gave her strength throughout these last days and knowing she believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love and the peace that awaits her now gives her family peace during this difficult time. Marie was born in Blackwell, Texas to Ruth and John Gaston Robin on June 4, 1929, one of five children. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a degree in Education and moved to Welch, Texas to teach. Marie then met Lee Roy Shannon, fell in love, and married in 1952. Most of their life together has been spent in Midland, Texas, where she taught elementary school and devoted herself to her husband, her son, and her granddaughters. Marie retired from teaching in 1991 and was then able to enjoy playing bridge and participating in the Home Demonstration Club with friends, being a part of Alamo Heights Baptist Church Community (for the past 50 years), and, above all, spending time with her family. Left to honor Marie is her husband of 64 years, Lee Roy Shannon; her son, Randy Shannon and his wife Terri; granddaughters, Ashley Shannon (Michael) Rodriquez and Michelle Shannon (Trevor) Stribling; great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Davis; her brother, Robert H. "Bob" Jenson; her sisters-in-law, Jimaileen Jenson and Verna Bates; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Maureen Dagan and Helen Burns; brother, James R. "Rob" Jenson; sister-in-law, Arleta Jenson; as well as other loving family and friends. The Shannon family will gather together to celebrate Marie's beautiful life in a small, private ceremony. The family gratefully declines flowers in lieu of memorial donations made to Hospice of Midland but gratefully appreciates your prayers.

Mrs. Shannon was by far the best and most caring teacher I ever had! I had her at Burnet Elementary from 1967-1970 and even after I married and had children when I saw her in a store she still remembered me...Many fond memories of her.
