Carl Dean Applegate
ZANESVILLE: Carl Dean Applegate, 84, of Zanesville, died at 11:50 P.M. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at home. He was born February 1, 1932 in Zanesville, son of the late Earl and Gretchen Bramhall Applegate. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from AT&T after 36 years of service. He was past master of Malta Lodge #118 F&AM as well as member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Immanuel Church of Zanesville.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Duemmel Applegate, whom he married June 29, 1957; a son, Michael (Carol) Applegate of Zanesville; step-grandson, Justin Devoll; a ½ sister, Marian Quinlan of Zanesville; two god children, Sue (William) Danhauer and Dennis (Jayne) Dunlap, both of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. with Masonic Lodge services at 5:45 P.M. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 29, 2016 with Mr. Richard Duemmel, brother-in-law of Dean, officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy in conjunction with the VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and the American Legion Post 29.
