U.S. Army Retired SFC, Barbara Clement, 64 of Milford, died on Thursday Sept. 1, 2016 after sustaining injuries from a horrific accident in Milford while doing something she loved, serving her community as a Constable. Many knew her as Sarge Barbara, was born in 1951, graduated from Milford High School in 1969 and attended a Jr. College. She was a member of the VFW in Medway and a member of both the ITAM Veterans Post, Milford and the American Legion Post, Medway. She will be most remembered for serving on many committees including Milfords own Bi-Centennial Committee in 1976. She would always lend a helping hand to those in need and will never be forgotten for her heroic efforts during the debilitating Blizzard of 1978. She was an honored and outstanding citizen, most recently she was elected as the first female Constable in the town of Milford and served as a reserve Deputy Sherriff for the Wor- cester County since 1978. Barbara was the cherished daughter of her devoted late parents James and Rose (Tessicini) Clement. She was the sister in law of the late Ellen Clement. She will be forever loved by those she left behind. She is survived by two brothers James M. Clement, Jr of Hopedale and Arthur D. Clement and his wife Carol Clement both of Phoenix AZ; one niece & five nephews Scott D. Clement and his wife Virginia Clement of Woburn and their children, Mich- ael T. Clem- ent of Milford, Sherry A. Clement of Hopedale and her children, Steven P. Clement of Bellingham and his children, Shawn K. Clement of Canyon County, CA and Shannon J. Clement and his wife Amy Clement of Whitinsville and their children; as well as many loyal and dear family members and friends including Nancy Koshivas and her family. She will truly be missed by the many whose lives she touched, as she couldnt have been more proud to serve. I first met Barbara as a new recruit in the NationalGuard. I had already served 2 years in the reg US Army. She scared me as a lady Sergeant but as I got to know her I realized what a great person she was with a huge heart. She helped so many people in so many ways.I know Jesus met her and holds her in his arms. RIP Sarge, you'll never be forgotten

My sympathies to the family and friends of Barbara. I had the pleasure of having Sargeant Clemen in the 26th Supply and Transport BN during my tour as Commander of the Battalion. Barbara was slways "Gung ho" in all that she undertook in the BN and always had the best interest of the Bn and all the soldiers who were members of this excellent Bn. Barbara was one of those who sought to do whatever it took to make the Bn the best in the Division. I always considered myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve as the commander of this BN because the organization has always had the reputation of consisting of the finest officers, the most dedicated NOO corps, and the most enthusiastic and hardworking enlisted men and women. Barbara was definitely a key player in the BN and we were fortunate to have had her in the Organization.

Still cannot believe you are gone Barbara. You were an icon around town, and it doesn't seem fathomable that we won't be bumping into one another at one place or another. You campaigned fiercely for those you believed would do well in elected positions albeit local or state politics. You were so proud of serving in the Army National Guard and your patriotism was remarkable. You made laugh every time you shared a memory of when you would tell someone you were serving that they didn't want to see the "pit bull" come out. You wit was unique and unmatched. I'll miss you Sarge. I will never forget the respect you showed when you attended my father's services and gave a solid and heart felt salute to him as he lay in his casket. Until we meet again, rest in eternal peace.

Though our grateful nation mourns with you in your loss, we can only feel a small part of the loss you are experiencing.
Your loved one will always be a part of our country's story. As such, their sacrifice on behalf of our nation will always be honored.
While the process of grieving requires a lot of time and, somehow, is never complete, we will be praying for you and grieving with you.
In deepest sympathy.
A Grateful American ~
