A Christian Service will be celebrated Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Helen Touchet Hanes, 83, who passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at her residence in Broussard. Visitation will be observed on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 9:00 am until the time of services, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Deacon Wynard Boutte, of Saint Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, will officiate. Helen was born March 22, 1933 in Maurice and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She was a parishioner of Saint Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville. Helen was active in her community, serving on the Welcome Committee and as an usher. Her enjoyment of the outdoors was evident, especially fishing and camping. Helen was considered a great cook; her grandchildren loved her rice dressing the best. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Russell J. Hanes of Lafayette; son, Samuel Cahn and his wife, Marsha of Youngsville; daughters, Claudia Boone and her husband, Clyde of Lafe', AR and Pam Labbe' and her husband, Greg of Carencro; stepson, LTC Richard Hanes and his wife, Lorna of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Cathy Baccigalopi and her husband, Gooch of Manvel, TX and Earney Ann Cormier of Galveston, TX; ten grandchildren, Scott Baccigalopi and his wife, Rachel, Stephanie Wilds and her husband, Johnathan, Ryan Cormier, Cody Cormier, Brandon Boone and his wife, Amy, Kenneth Boone and his wife, Jessica, Michael Leon and his wife, Natalie, Sean Cormier and his wife, Megan, Jonathan Cahn, Kaytlan Cahn and PV2 Clay Labbe'; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lauris Touchet and his wife, Evadell of Lafayette and Lennis Touchet and his wife, Birdie of Carencro and one sister, Mabel Vallot of Youngsville. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Anna and Minus Touchet; her son, Darrell; her sisters, Gladys Duhon, Dorothy Decou and Jessie Hill; three brothers, Minus "PeeWee" Touchet Jr., George Touchet and Florence Touchet and her step son-in-law, Keith Cormier. Pallbearers will be PV2 Clay Labbe', Sean Cormier, Jonathan Cahn, SPC Brandon Boone, Greg Labbe' and LTC Richard P. Hanes. Honorary Bearers are Sam Cahn and James Broussard.
