WHARTON - John Mark Leonard, 28, of Wharton, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016.
Born in Newton on July 6, 1988, to Stephen and Lynn (Eby) Leonard, John Mark spent most of his life in the Lake Shawnee section of Jefferson Township. He had a very big heart, was loved by many, and also touched a lot of lives. He always put everyone before himself, despite his own struggles in life. Now it is his time to fly with the angels.
John Mark is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Jack and Pat (Plotts) Eby, of Wantage. He is survived by his loving parents, Stephen and Lynn (Eby) Leonard; his loving sister, Erica Leonard; his uncle, Bruce and aunt, Carole Eby; and cousins, Jake and his wife, Stephanie Eby and Heather Hawkins and their children. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, James and Theresa Leonard of Lakehurst; his uncle, Mike, and aunt, Chris Leonard; his aunt, Donna Mutter; and his aunt, Judy and uncle, Brian Sommers, and all their children. He is survived by dear friends and neighbors as well.
Cremation was private and under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. No services are planned at this time.
Memorial donations in support of the Narcan program may be made to Jefferson Township Rescue Squad, PO Box 300, Route 15 South, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849.

My condolences to the family of John Mark, he dated my daughter in high school and I loved his kindness, respect and thoughtfulness that he showed to my daughter and myself. I am very saddened to hear of his passing and will always keep him in my prayers.
