David R. Tighe
Retired from U/Mass Lowell
LOWELL -- David R. Tighe, 88, a member of a well known Lowell family, died Sunday morning at Town and Country Healthcare Center in Lowell.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, May 30, 1928, the son of the late Dr. Michael A. and the late Helena R. (Calnin) Tighe, he received his education in the Lowell School system.
Prior to his retirement, David was employed by Lowell Technological Institute (now known as U/Mass Lowell) with the maintenance department where he worked for over 25 years.
An avid Red Sox fan, David enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was a former member of Apple Country Club in Chelmsford and bowled in several area bowling leagues as well.
He also served as an usher at St. Mary Church in Chelmsford for many years.
David is survived by several nieces and nephews including Julie (Laughlin) Sablone and her husband Frank of Gloucester, Jody (Tighe) O'Hearn and her husband Peter of Lowell, Helen (Tighe) Payton of Seattle, WA, Peter Laughlin and his wife Mary of Little River, SC, Thomas "Toby" Tighe and his wife Linna of Towson, MD and James Tighe and his wife Gail of Marblehead; many grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was also the brother of the late Thomas J.G. Tighe, the late James M.C. Tighe and the late Janet (Tighe) Laughlin.
TIGHE -- Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday morning at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH at 11 o'clock followed by his burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.

I work at T&C in the activities dept. and David was very dear to me. He loved the games we played and he had lots of friends, and he was a very funny! I loved his stories, and I miss him so much! I am lucky to have known him! RIP David

David Tighe, a gentlenmen, Red Sox fan and friend. David brought his easy attiude,and smile , his knowledge of baseball and who was the better pitcher. I was always wrong and he prove it too me each morning atThe Battles Home, everyone love David, but of all the things I learn from him the greatest lesson was the love of his family, never I met a person so proud of each and everyone of them.
