Rae DuBois Rose, 96, made her transition on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Funeral Home. Rae was born July 14, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Ida and Albert Strohle. She attended Catholic grade school and graduated at the age of 15 from Woodward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended night school taking a commercial course in bookkeeping. She married Frank Rose in 1936 and they had one child, Jo Ann Frances. In 1941 the family moved to Fort Worth where Frank was stationed in the Army Air Corps at Tarrant Field (later Carswell Air Force Base). They remained in Fort Worth and both attended Bible Baptist Seminary, and Frank was ordained as a Baptist minister. In 1944 they organized the Bible Baptist Church on the Northside. The family moved to Midland in 1951. While living in Midland they pastored in Terminal. In 1967 due to continued health problems Frank resigned as pastor and they moved to Oceana, Calif., later living in Santa Maria, Calif. Frank passed away in 1970 and Rae continued to live in Santa Maria with her father. Rae met Peter DuBois in 1974 and they married in 1978 and lived in Santa Maria, Calif., until their retirement in 1981 when they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. She and Peter volunteered for Hospice of the Valley for many years and traveled extensively until his death in 1995. In late 1995 Rae moved to Fort Worth and lived with her daughter until 2013 when her health declined. She became a resident of Heartland Healthcare until her passing. Rae was a spiritual woman of great faith, which helped sustain her throughout her life; she was a member of Unity Church of Fort Worth. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, gracious hostess and loved entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, working crossword puzzles, shopping, meeting people and spending time with her family. Rae was the matriarch of our family and she will be greatly missed. Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Mitchell of Fort Worth; grandson, Clark Mitchell and wife, Cindi, of Torrance, Calif.; granddaughter-in-law, Wanda Byther and husband, Bennett, of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell and wife, Rama, Brittany Mitchell and Bridgette Mitchell of Fort Worth, Austin Mitchell and Alayna Mitchell of Torrance; and great-great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tre, Tara, Aurora and Scarlett Rose of Fort Worth.
