Joann Cordell
UNION — Mrs. JoAnn Foster Cordell, 85, wife of Maurice Cordell of Union, SC, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Inverness Assisted Living in Spartanburg, SC.
Mrs. Cordell was born in Atlanta, GA on January 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Jefferson Vannoy Foster and Lenna Mae Kerr Foster. She was a Registered Nurse and had previously worked at Spartanburg General Hospital for 15 years and retired as an industrial nurse at Kohler Company. Mrs. Cordell was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women and the Johnnie Sanders Circle. She was a member of the Union County Book Club and Garden Club and was a former member of the Spartanburg Regional Nurses Association. Mrs. Cordell was an avid gardener and enjoyed volunteering her time to others. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Tina Cordell of Melbourne, Australia and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Cordell was predeceased by two sisters, Martha Foster Queen and Betty Foster Robinson; and one brother, William "Bud" Foster.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. David Bauknight. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held in the church parlor from 1-2 p.m. Thursday prior to the services.
