Donald S. Foltz
AGE: 92 • Cherry Hill
Donald S. Foltz, 92, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospice, Voorhees, NJ on December 29, 2016, with loving daughters Patricia A. Foltz and Betsy Rusnak at his side. He was preceded in death by Patricia M. Foltz (nee Auvil) his beloved wife of 59 years by only 8 months. Also preceding him in death are siblings Doris Galle, Richard Foltz, Alice Shireman, and Arthur Foltz.
As a youth in Bethlehem, PA, Donald was a member of Trinity Episcopal Choir for Men and Boys, his mother having been a member of Bethlehem's Bach Choir. Early enlistment in the U.S. Navy led to a career as a Naval Engineer. His 25 years of service took him around the world on aircraft carriers, and his family to homes in Newport, Rhode Island, California, Cuba, and finally Cherry Hill, NJ. He served as Head of the Naval Boilerman's School in Philadelphia before retirement with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Second and third careers as Director of Plant Operations at area hospitals (Pennsylvania Hospital Institute, Virtua Memorial Mt. Holly, Rancocas, and Taylor) and Director of Safety for Lakeland Hospital and for the Camden County, NJ Parks preceded retirement at his home in Cherry Hill. A private interment ceremony with Naval Honors for he and wife Patricia will take place at Washington's Crossing National Veterans Cemetery in Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Orphanage of Voorhees, NJ at www.awanj.org in his memory.
