Richard George Cronin
AGE: 80 • Jackson
Richard George Cronin, 80, of Jackson, NJ, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, he lived in the Menlo Park Terrace section of Woodbridge, NJ before moving to Jackson 18 years ago.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Philosophy and an MBA Degree in Economics.
Richard served in the US Navy Sixth Fleet from 1955 to 1957.
He worked for IBM in Elizabeth, NJ for 10 years then worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 40 years as an Internal Revenue Agent.
Richard was a parishioner of St. Aloysius RC Church, Jackson, NJ, was a 40 year member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as president of the Menlo Park Terrace Civic Association and the Youth Association.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Ruth (Daggett) Cronin, his sister Florence Gallagher and her husband John Gallagher, a sister in law Anne Weddle Cronin, and a brother in law John Murray.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathryn (nee McGowan), three daughters and their husbands, Theresa & Greg Soricelli of Jackson, NJ, June & Bill Cappadona of Brick, NJ, and Carreen & Mike Kaufmann of Jackson, NJ, a brother Walter Cronin of Washington, D.C., a sister Rita Murray of Colonia, NJ and four grandchildren Michael Kaufmann, Ryan Kaufmann, Jason Kaufmann and Zachary Soricelli.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals DeBow Chapel, 150 West Veterans Hwy., Jackson, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday 9:30am at St. Aloysius RC Church, Jackson, NJ. Entombment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jackson Twp. First Aid Squad, PO Box 516, Jackson, NJ 08527.
