Rayford William Medlin died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 08, 2017 in York, SC at the age of 77.
The funeral will be at Sanctuary Hills The Church of God of Prophecy in York on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2PM with Rev. Phillip Smith and Rev. Clifford Cochran officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York. The family will receive friends at Bratton Funeral Home on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6-8PM.
Rayford was born May 3, 1939 in Lancaster, SC to the late Otis Medlin and Virgie Beckham Medlin. Rayford was a family man and a hard worker. He worked many years at Fieldcrest Cannon Mill where he was known to everyone as "Smiley". He was passionate about golf, music, and loved his seafood. He was a very talented guitar player, and loved to sing tenor with his children and grandchildren.
Rayford is survived by his wife, Margaret Stewart Medlin and their five children, Patricia Anderson (Mike), Shirley Cochran (Clifford), Rachel Cline (David), Robert Medlin (Brenda), and Melissa Robbins (Derrick). Rayford was also survived by his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, Rayford was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde Medlin and Marvin Medlin.
Memorials may be made to Sancuarty Hills Church of God of Prophecy at 1289 Lincoln Road York, SC 29745.
