Lillian T Stern
AGE: 94 • Lakewood
Lillian Theresa Stern of Lakewood, NJ, formerly of Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2017. Lillian was born on June 27, 1922 in New York City to Michael and Lillian Slavin.
After graduating High School in New York City, Lillian worked for the New York Telephone Company. On June 22, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Stern Sr., who remained her devoted husband for 68 years until his death in June 2015.
Lillian is survived by her sons; Harold Jr. and his wife Barbara and Dennis and his wife Susan of Rockland County, NY, Edward of Lakewood, NJ and Gerald of Georgia; her cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Ashley, Christopher, Lauren, Kristen and numerous nieces and nephews. One of eight children Lillian is survived by her two sisters, Gloria Clarke, Joan Schweizer and her brother Joseph Slavin and his wife Veronica.
She is predeceased by her brothers; Michael, Harold and Edwin Slavin; her sister Eileen Ottino and her daughter in law, Belinda Stern.
Lillian loved singing and dancing in the Lions Head Woods Social Club and had a passion for traveling, but most of all she will be remembered for her devotion to her family, which always comes first! She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched in her life.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. Committal and burial will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice Visiting Nurse Association of New Jersey, 176 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
