Leon M. Rogers Sr. HAMILTON Leon M. Rogers Sr., 93, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Hamilton Square, he was a lifelong area resident. Leon honorably served his country with the 5th Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Leon worked at CF&I Roebling for 33 years as a machinist. He also worked at Crescent Wire and CV Hill Refrigeration both in Trenton. He was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square. Leon had many involvements including, the Steelworkers Union and Machinist Union; he was a lifetime member of the NRA, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest No. 4 and the Gothic Fraternal Lodge 270. His happiest times were spent hunting, fishing and being with his family. Predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Sara (McGalliard) Rogers, and his sisters, Eleanor Rogers and Marion Sprague, Leon is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elizabeth (Johnston) Rogers; his son, Leon M. Rogers Jr. and his companion, Catharine Mollis, and son and daughter-in-law Glenn H. and Mary Rae Rogers, all of Hamilton Square; his grandsons and their spouses, Daniel and Amanda Rogers, David and Lydia Rogers, and his great-grand-daughter, Charis Rogers. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. Interment will follow at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery of Hamilton Square. Visitation for family and friends will be held today, Monday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Saul Colonial Home, saulfuneralhomes.com In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leon's memory to First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square by visiting In Memory Of at inmemoryof-memorial.org.
