SNODGRASS, Eleanor "Ellie" F. (Dinneen) Of Groton, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017, following a long battle with multiple sclerosis; a battle she waged with courage, grace, resilience, tenacity, wit, wisdom, humor, and love. She is the beloved wife and soul mate of David Snodgrass.
Ellie brought her empathy and natural healing abilities to a life-long career in health care, first as a Registered Nurse and later as an Acupuncturist. Her career in acupuncture was inspired by her own experience, as her MS was put in a decades long remission soon after she began acupuncture treatments. She returned to school to learn about the alternative medicine that had made such a difference in her life. Ellie opened her own acupuncture practice in Groton, treating many MS sufferers, and later pursued additional studies in China to better serve her patients. Her passion for holistic health solutions brought healing and serenity to thousands locally.
Ellie lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, collecting jewelry, gardening, Fung Shui, photography, horses, and computer games. She had an easy laugh, a beautiful smile, and would brighten the day of her many friends or the passing stranger with a kind word or a witty barb. Ellie had an insatiable thirst for learning, was a voracious reader, an All My Children junky, and was devoted to her dogs, particularly her service dog Joey, who would not just fetch the necessities but would do tricks on command when a good laugh was in order.
Born in Norwood, MA, on November 17, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Janet (Murphy) Dinneen. Along with her husband, Ellie is survived by her brother and sister in law Robert M. and Maureen Dinneen, and their children Robert and his wife Christi, and Erin and Mary Kate. In addition, Ellie touched and enriched, and in turn was enriched by her family, friends, patients and care givers. Ellie's husband and family would especially like to express their gratitude to Fred who took such wonderful care of her; allowing her to stay in the home that she loved.
Please consider honoring this remarkable woman by making a donation to the National MS Society in her memory. Services are pending.
