Myron ELLMAN Obituary

Passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on March 3, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Adeline Ellman. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernadine F.; loving children, Cynthia (Greg) Kneisl, Lori (Tom) Stocker; grandchildren, Andrew, Kara, Nicholas, Kelly, Kevin and Paige; and 4½ great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Glen (Bernice) Ellmann, and sisters Carol Saltz and Lucille (Glendis) Einess. Papa was a simple man; he was a homebuilder and believed in an honest days work. He loved children (especially his grandchildren and neighbor kids), animals and White Castle with a Leinenkugel. He loved White Bear Lake and hosting a summer party where he showed off his corn and raspberries. He would clean every fish the grandchildren caught no matter how small. He lived his last two years at the Minnesota Veterans Home where he was treated with great dignity and respect and he was quite content. We are so grateful to God for Jesus in his Divine Mercy. Memorial Service 11AM, Saturday March 18 at ST PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 880 Neal Ave. S. Afton. Visitation one hour prior. Memorial preferred to St Peters Lutheran Church. 651-489-1349

One sunny sunner day in about 1974 as we - the neighborhood kids were walking toward the dock down Neptune street, Myron came over the hill from behind driving his backhoe. He lowered the shovel - it may have been eight foot wide and three foot deep? It seemed very large. He motioned for us to jump in and after everyone was comfortably inside he lifted us high in the air, raved up the motor and delivered us down the street to his garage. It was exciting and fun. He carefully (?) lowered the shovel and we all jumped out onto the street better off for the adventure. I am thinking of you all and if not for a delayed train from Montana I would have been with you today. Sometimes I sign on as a carpenter, for a few weeks or months and I am sure part of being comfortable and confident in a tool belt is from a few early experiences I had helping Myron on the homes he built.

We loved Myron, he was so fun and clever!! Always such a busy guy, he seemed to be at a dead run, whether cutting the grass, putting up the dock , building an addition....we were amazed living next door to him. It actually was quite something to watch....Myron, Bernie, and my mom , all three racing to get things done to perfection!! We will always think of Myron with the twinkle in eyes as he told a funny story too, with love and affection., so many fond memories for all of us.

One of my favorite neighbors. Myron always reminded me of a busy squirrel - always busy, always working, with endless energy. Loved to dance and one of the hardest working people I ever met.
Great memories of a "one-of-a-kind".

I'll never forget the summer when Myron helped my Dad and I build the roller rink on Century Ave. It was my introduction to day in day out hard labor. I can still picture him dancing around 30+ feet in the air the day we set the trusses- very impressive to a 14 year old boy. Myron left a lifetime impression on me and I've thought of him very often through-out my years of carpentry. May he rest in peace.
