JARVIS-SCHROEDER, David Michael Was born and grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota. He received a B.S. in Music from Winona State University in 1979, and a Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in 1984. He was ordained in 1989 and served a number of churches in North Dakota and Minnesota. In 2005, he completed a year of training at the Mayo Clinic to prepare for ministry as a hospital chaplain. A job as chaplain at the Springfield Regional Medical Center brought him to Ohio. He returned to parish ministry with a call to Brandt Lutheran Church in 2009, where he retired due to health concerns in 2016. Dave's greatest joy in ministry was visiting people at home and in the hospital, where he learned so much about the lives of others, offering them comfort provided by the Lord. Throughout his life, Dave had many interests. In North Dakota, he and his wife, Jen, cultivated vegetable and flower gardens. They camped and hiked many state parks, including a number of visits to the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Dave also loved woodworking and completed many projects. Music was a large part of his life, from singing with Jen, to singing in church choirs. Dave loved his family and enjoyed exploring his family roots through genealogy. Until his health began to fail, Dave was very helpful at home. He cheerfully ran the vacuum cleaner and was friends with the iron, although he just as cheerfully avoided cooking and grocery shopping. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Carl Schroeder, and his aunt, Audrey Hage. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his sister Carol Amberg, his parents-in-law, John and Pat Jarvis, his brother-in-law, John Jarvis, Jr., many other extended family and friends, especially Dave Potter, and the crew from Fazolis. Dave's funeral will be at North Riverdale Lutheran Church in Dayton on Saturday, March 18th, at 10:00. Interment will be private at a later date. Jen:
I am so sorry that I was not aware of the severity of David's illness. I had heard from the folks at Brandt that he 'had health issues' but I did not realize the scope. I have been serving out of the area, so I haven't kept up with the local pastors. Our prayers for your family and God's blessings on your grieving and healing. Thank you for the many years serving in our community. I know your presence will be missed.
