Dennis H. Durham
With much sadness, we report the sudden passing of Dennis H. Durham on Wednesday, March 22 at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family & close friends as he left his earthly life to join his mother, Bernice Henny Akers, on her birthday.
A beloved brother, business partner, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Dennis was deeply loved by all. There was a light that emanated from Dennis in every room he entered, and his incredible laugh was contagious and pure joy to anyone within hearing. He exuded a childlike wonder over virtually everything. He connected with others, including strangers, on the most genuine level, enabling an immediate bond, and leaving the recipient with the caring gifts of respect, attention, and time. The world has truly lost an ambassador of love.
He displayed amazing courage in battling numerous health issues and was not one given to complaint. Rather, he minimized his condition to focus on the challenges that others faced. There was never a physician, nurse or caregiver that wasn't struck with both Dennis's humor and graciousness in the face of adversity.
Dennis was raised in Auburn from birth, attending St. Joseph's Parochial Elementary, Placer High School and Sierra College before completing his BA degree at San Francisco State University. Gifted in creativity, he spent 37 years in Australia, principally in the interior design business, which he continued upon his return to California in 2008.
He leaves behind his sisters, Linda Durham of Auburn and Gayle Scott of Austin, Tex, brother Bill Durham of Edmond, Okla, business partner of 45 years Robert Littlejohn, Aunt & Uncle June and Herb Marshall of Sacramento, nieces Stacia Loe & Stephanie Boyce of Portland, Oregon, cousins Kathy Schroeder and Greg Marshall of Sacramento, close friends Woody Hoffmann, Carol Fletcher, Diane Arevalo and many other dear family members and friends.
Due to the sudden nature of his death, the family kindly requests privacy at this time. A celebration of Dennis's beautiful life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to remember Dennis through a donation, please send your remembrance to Acres of Hope, P.O. Box 238, Auburn, CA 95604.

I represented Dennis and never met a man as full of life and optimism as he was. His infectious laugh left an indelible impression on all who had the pleasure to hear it. Peace and comfort to the family, but the world was a better place with Dennis in it!
