Florence Mullarkey Obituary

Florence Bryant Mullarkey, 74, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017. She spent 40 wonderful years calling Galway Lake her home. Born on January 5th, 1943 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frances Urbielewicz and Floyd Bryant. Florence graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, Class of 1962. On June 18, 1966, Florence married John D. Mullarkey. He passed away January 3, 2016. Florence was a bookkeeper for various restaurants in the Capital District. Before retiring in 2016, she worked for the Circle Diner in Latham, NY. She was active in the Galway Youth Softball, and a member of the Clifton Park Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Florence was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed bowling. She was a very proud of her family in fact, she was the proudest Gramski. Florence is survived by her daughters, Sueann (Rodney) Slater of Middleburgh, NY, and Tara (Katie Koval) Mullarkey of Arlington, MA; her sisters, Anna Mae Emerich (Dick) Stewart of Charlton, Patricia (Larry) Carpenter of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; and her youngest sister and best friend, Kathy (Mike) Lonergan of Ballston Lake; her brothers, Robert (Sharon Miller) Bryant of Galway, and Floyd (Cathie) Bryant of Stillwater; her grandchildren, Charles John (C.J) Slater, Samantha Slater, and Haley Slater; her uncle, Victor (Mary) Urbielewicz of Shushan, NY; and her longtime companion dog, Mitzy. Many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Florence was predeceased by her husband, John; her daughter, Mary Mullarkey Smith; and her parents, Frances and Floyd Bryant. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday April 3rd, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Animal Protection Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
