Patricia Dian Vecellio, 77, died Friday evening in Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 20, 1939, in Bradford, to Joseph and Virginia Boyd Marcott.
After graduating from Bradford High School in 1957, she immediately went to work at Bradford National Bank, staying with the organization through several mergers and retiring from National City Bank in 1996 as a manager of the Bradford Mall Office.
She was first employed at the bank as a bookkeeper and climbed the ladder as head teller, operations manager, bank personnel officer and regional operations manager. Her early promotions came at a time that women were not often promoted.
She put her accounting skills to work in her volunteer work, serving as treasurer of the Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center for 31 years, beginning with the second year of the organization. She was a vital force in the organization during its early years, taking on whatever needed to be done, including serving as stage manager for the locally produced version of "Annie Get Your Gun." From 2004 until 2008, she served as the vice president of BCPAC as well.
She was also an active member of the Bradford Zonta Club since 1988, serving as treasurer, a past vice president and member of its board of directors.
There were other organizations that counted on her as a steady volunteer, including the Bradford Regional Medical Center, the YWCA, United Way, American Cancer Society, Bradford Area Public Library and the Friendship Table.
The YWCA recognized her lifetime of service leadership in 2003, when it named her a co-recipient of its Female Leadership Award.
