Vicki Gauwitz
EAST PEORIA - Vicki L. Gauwitz, 67, of East Peoria passed away at 5:28 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by friends and family.
Born on March 24, 1950, in Peoria to Harry E. and Carrie E. Schoonover Bohm, she married Charles F. Gauwitz, her best friend, on July 19, 1968, in Peoria, and he survives. Vicki was very proud of the fact they had loved, laughed and cried together for almost 49 wonderful years.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Tim (Angie) Gauwitz and Bret (Crissy) Gauwitz, both of East Peoria; 1 daughter, Heather Gauwitz of East Peoria; 3 sisters, Sharon (Bill) Neff of Washington, Carole (Chuck) White of Morton and Brenda (Albert) Jones of Washington; 5 grandchildren, Kara, Emma, Samantha, Gavin and Ashlyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Vicki provided in-home childcare for 17 years. She was known as "Aunt Vicki" to many. Vicki enjoyed fishing, gardening and feeding the birds and squirrels. She was a member of Faith Church in Washington and was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus. Her best accomplishment and pride was her love for her family, friends and, mostly, God. Everyone who knew her will always think of her with much happiness when it snows.
The family would like to thank the staff at Illinois CancerCare and the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for their loving care for Vicki.
A funeral service for Vicki will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Steve Graffis will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude or the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Vicki's memorial website is available at www.deitersfuneralhome.com, where condolences may also be sent to the family.

I will miss Vicki's smile and her hugs every time I seen her. She was a wonderful person and I feel very lucky to have known her and thankful for her when she watched my daughter.

T0 Vicki's family she will be missed dearly at Wal-Mart in E Peoria where we could expect to see her and Mr Charlie at least 3 times a week if not more. She was a very sweet and kind lady always . She loved snow and teased me about the forecast every time she knew it was coming. She would get such a joy to see my reaction. I have looked forward to seeing her and Charlie for many years now. Well God wanted his Snowflake in his own glorious yard now. So, so long Snowflake until my glorious snow shower shall fall. Rest In Heaven Mrs Vicki.
