LIMESTONE - William A. Chadwick, 91, of 6367 Limestone Run, Limestone, won and went to be with his Lord on Friday (May 5, 2017), at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born May 5, 1926, in Emporium, Pa., he was a son of the late Harold Chadwick and Mildred (Ensign) Chadwick Sawyer.
On April 7, 1990, in Allegany Full Gospel Church, he married Barbara (Combs) Chadwick, who survives.
Bill attended Emporium schools. On April 19, 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, earning the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged May 25, 1946. He returned and graduated from Olean High School.
He was an active member of The Gospel Tabernacle Church in Limestone and served on the Board of Directors.
Mr. Chadwick worked for Terry's Furs in Olean, Singer Service Center in Olean, The Haskell Mobil Gas Station and then for MetLife, retiring after 30 years of service.
Bill enjoyed music and played the Harmonica, Piano and Mandolin.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Jill (Paul) Ivanich of Bradford, Pa., Todd Chadwick and Collin (Tina) Chadwick, both of Olean, Keith Hatch, of Bradford, Noreen (Randy) Watson, of Dallas, Texas and Lori (Joe) DeAngelis, of Bradford; 19 grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Hosmer, Chad Ivanich, Keenan Chadwick, Kaija Dougherty, Kira (Jordan) Spencer, Lyndsey Churakos, Sierra Churakos, Gracie Chadwick, Donald Hatch, Jesse (Rose) Crum, Cody Hatch, Aaron (Holly) Watson, Bethany (Fred) Montoya, Leah (Phillip) Daurio, Jared Watson, Nicholas (Caitlin) Tingley, Adam Tingley, Nathaniel Tingley and Stephen Tingley; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Jan) Chadwick of Prescott, Ariz; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Chadwick, Jr. and Richard Chadwick and one sister, Alice Chadwick Sherwood.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday (May 9, 2017) in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue and again on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., in the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Limestone, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Russ Combs officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Olean.
Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Gospel Tabernacle Church or The Limestone Fire Department.
