Gordon Richard Mills, age 78, of Frederick, passed away suddenly Monday, May 8, 2017 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born April 11, 1939 in Rockville, he was the son of the late Raymond Richard and Bernice Louise King Mills. He was the husband of Joan Lottie Mills.
Mr. Mills served in the U.S. Army. He had been employed as a machinist with the Department of Defense. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and loved his dog "Wolf", his cat, "The Kid" and feeding the birds.
In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Rickilyn Prohaska and husband Jim of Bradenville, PA; Jacqueline Marie Childs and Richard Raymond Mills and wife Trish, all of Frederick and Gordon Scott Mills of Brunswick; brother, Kenneth Mills; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one expected soon. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Mills.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Dr. Jill Hudson, officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
