Patricia Cross Jenkins 1937-2017
79, of Dover, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Frank and Norma (Bigler) Cross, Patricia was born August 5, 1937 at Inkster, Mich. Patricia graduated from Midvale High School in 1955. Then on May 16, 1956, she married the love of her life, Alan Thomas Jenkins, in Grace Lutheran Church at Dover. The couple raised four children, JoAnn, David, Barbara and Wendy and shared 57 years of marriage prior to Tom's passing on April 22, 2014. She was formerly employed at J.C. Penney and enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing solitaire as well as family gatherings and dining out with family and friends. Patricia especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Dave (Robin) Jenkins of New Philadelphia; her daughters, Barbara Tomlinson of Dover and Wendy (Mike) Leach of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Michelle DePriest, Becca (Bud) Zurfley, Zach and Sarah Leach, Nathan and Morgan Jenkins and Macy Tomlinson; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Huston of Tuscarawas and two brothers, Robert (Betty) Cross and Richard Cross both of Barnhill; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Liedtke of Dover; a sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Rothacher of California and Rhoda Jenkins of New Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews, Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; a daughter and two grandchildren, JoAnn and Amanda and Jonathan Durbin; two sisters, Virginia Campbell and Margie Marshall and four brothers, Thomas, Raymond, Jimmy and Larry Cross.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Patricia's life will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Hugh Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
