Gene was a very special person.
He was always helping with raising money for Parkinson's disease.
He was truly a remarkable man.
It was an honor to know him and his precious Mother, Ellen, who was a very special friend to me.
May you both rest in peace.

Rachael, My prayers are with you and your family. I lost my mom Feb 2. I understand the heaviness of the loss of a parent. I enjoyed the stories we shared at work. Your dad was a hero to many.

Gene was one of the greatest inspirations in my life. A living example of the rule of taking your mind off your own troubles by focusing on helping others, Gene went well above and beyond any need to make lemonade out of lemons. He never saw a need he did not try to meet, never saw a want he did not try to satiate. His giving heart drove his ailing body to accomplish so many things no one else thought possible. Sadly, life proved that even Gene's body was mortal, but we know that his soul is not. He is now moving in ways he has not for many years, running among the saints with a broad smile on his face. His example and love and giving spirit also live on in every person he helped, every friend he made, every trail he blazed. May we honor his legacy and carry his dream forward.
GOD be with you all.
