Thomas V. Kildea, Jr., 80, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Philadelphia PA to the late Thomas Sr. and Anna Kildea, he started his career in publications with the Philadelphia Bulletin where he worked for 25 years, before going on to work as a Publication Supervisor for Crain Communication, in New York City, for over 15 years.
He married the late Eileen Kildea and settled in South Plainfield in 1987. Mr. Kildea enjoyed Disney trips and time spent at the Jersey Shore with his family. Thomas was a master chess player, who had a green thumb and was known for his beautiful garden, especially his tomatoes. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed the quality time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Eileen Marie Kildea in 2012 and his dear brother Jack Kildea.
Surviving are his loving children, Kevin Kildea and wife Denise, Timothy Kildea and wife Michelle, and Jennifer Dodge and husband Colin, his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Kathryn, Faith, Sean, and Olivia, and his dear siblings, Doris Durante and husband John, Dennis Kildea and wife Joyce, and James Kildea, as well as his nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.
Funeral services will begin with a gathering at 9 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the funeral home; followed by A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00am at the Church of the Sacred Heart, South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield.
Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' memory to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001
