I am so grateful for S Joel and her life's work that she shared with women, in particular, and men. Joel's vision and tenacity created a wonderful academic experience and atmosphere for so many. I worked closely with Joel in the Development Department and also was a student in weekend college (class of '88). She will be sorely missed by her family, the SSSF and Milwaukee area communities and people worldwide. What an astounding woman!

Dear the family of Sr. Joel Read and the School Sisters of Saint Francis. Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed Sr. Joel. Her passion for learning and innovation was very evident.
I am personally honored and blessed to have known Sr. Joel. She was truly a blessing in my life and that of my fellow St.Theresa Sisters who studied at Alverno College. We will forever, remember your generosity.
May your soul rest in peace.

To the Family of Sr. Joel Read and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community. It is with great respect and admiration that I express my condolences on the passing of a great visionary. I was lucky enough to be at Alverno College during her time and a great product of Weekend College. I credit the college and her vision for women as helping me to go out into the world and make a difference each and every day. Thank you all for sharing her and her thoughts and visions with me and my fellow graduates. I am truly humbled to have received this wonderful education and credit my "can do" attitude to her and the SSSF community. The world has truly lost one of it's brightest stars.
